Manipulating individual notes in recorded music →
Someone has created software that allows you to modify individual notes within recorded music, like you would do with MIDI. That means you can modify a strummed chord on a guitar by editing individual notes within that chord. I’m no audio engineer, but that’s insane. The video is long, but very cool to watch for a few minutes. Via hilker:syzlak

2008 M3 Coupe being marked up to $100,000 →
The new M3 coupe is being marked up to $100k. That is asinine. I’ve driven the last generation M3, as well as the one before that. They’re great cars. However, they’re not $100k great. Yet another reason why despite being the “Ultimate Driving Machine”, I doubt I’ll ever drive a bimmer.
Subprime Primer →
marco: An MSPaint-drawn explanation about the subprime mortgage problem. (thanks, dihard) I didn’t find the time to look at this until just now, but this was awesome. Doubly so, since my wife and I are trying to buy our first home currently.

If you try to compress 11.1 GB of compressed data, you end up with 11.0 GB of compressed compressed data.
Said differently, there’s no need to compress your mp3s.
